Brian Protheroe is een Britse singer-songwriter die oorspronkelijk bekend werd in de jaren zeventig. Zijn album "I/You" is een van zijn werken waarin hij een combinatie van pop en folk met ingetogen arrangementen presenteert. Het album kenmerkt zich door rustige composities en introspectieve teksten, waarbij Protheroe vooral put uit persoonlijke ervaringen en observaties. "I/You" past binnen zijn oeuvre als een voorbeeld van zijn stijl die zich richt op subtiele melodieën en een sobere productie.
